Congress Angry Over My Ganesh Puja: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday remarked that the Congress and its allies were upset with him for attending Ganesh Puja. Speaking at a rally in Bhubaneswar, Modi's statement seemed to address opposition criticism for his participation in the Ganesh Puja rituals at the residence of Chief Justice of India, D Y Chandrachud.

Modi emphasized the significance of Ganesh Utsav, noting that it’s more than a religious festival and played a crucial role during India’s freedom struggle. He pointed out that the British who practiced divide-and-rule policies, disliked the celebration of Ganesh Utsav. Drawing a parallel Modi claimed that today’s political factions, driven by a thirst for power are also troubled by the festival.

He further criticized Congress, stating that its members are frustrated with his involvement in the event and accused them of symbolically "imprisoning" Lord Ganesh in Karnataka.
