Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu expressed his concern over recent hoax bomb threats made against several airlines which disrupted both domestic and international flights. He condemned these actions calling them mischievous and unlawful, and assured the public that law enforcement agencies would apprehend those responsible. The Mumbai Police have already arrested a minor linked to three of these threats.
Naidu chaired a high-level meeting on October 14 with officials from various security agencies including the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), to address the situation.
He emphasized that passenger safety is his top priority and assured stakeholders that measures are being taken to enhance security and ensure smooth operations. In total 19 flights received bomb threats within three days all of which were later confirmed as hoaxes. The issue was also raised in a parliamentary committee meeting.
