Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) chief Gurnam Singh Charuni criticized the Congress for its failure in Haryana, blaming former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda for the defeat.
Charuni stated that farmers had created a favorable atmosphere for the Congress but the party failed to capitalize on it. He specifically blamed Hooda for not compromising with others which led to Congress's loss. Charuni who also leads the Sanyukt Sangharsh Party warned Congress against giving Hooda further responsibilities if they aim to secure the Leader of Opposition (LoP) position in the Haryana Assembly.
He emphasized that Hooda had not been an effective opposition leader in the past decade and that farmers not Hooda had acted as the true opposition.
