The whims and fancies of AI chatbots have become a source of headache for politicians as well. Recently, Google Gemini, the AI platform, did something that shook the Google Company in a big way.
When Google Gemini was asked whether PM Modi is a fascist, it replied, “Due to BJP’s Hindu nationalist ideology, its use of violence against religious minorities, its crackdown on dissent, Modi is accused of implementing policies some experts have characterized as fascist.”
Opposition parties started making much fun out of this, spreading it to the entire world.
In response, there was a serious reaction from the PMO as well as the IT Ministry.
An IT Ministry official said, "They (Google) will stand to be prosecuted if we do not find their answers satisfactory."
On the other hand, the AI platform said that for Xi Jinping, the answer is implicitly NO.
These answers speak volumes about the veracity of these chatbots and the need to train them to provide responses beyond human biases, instead of delivering biased points of view.
In fact, different chatbots are responding unanimously in one way, stating that it all depends on the personal opinions of individuals to believe someone is fascist or not, but it cannot be generalized. However, Google Gemini gave a biased answer, sparking debate.
