Budget Session Begins in Parliament

The Budget Session of Parliament has officially commenced. The session began at 11 AM today with President Droupadi Murmu addressing both Houses of Parliament. Following the President's speech, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tabled the Economic Survey in the House. The Economic Survey provides a comprehensive analysis of the government's performance over the past year, covering key areas such as GDP growth, inflation, employment, and other critical economic indicators.

The full-fledged Union Budget will be presented tomorrow, February 1, by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The Budget Session will be held in two phases, starting from January 31 and concluding on April 4. The first phase of the session will end on February 13. During this session, the government plans to introduce 16 bills, including:

Waqf (Amendment) Bill

Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill

Railways (Amendment) Bill

Disaster Management (Amendment) Bill

Emigration and Foreign Nationals Bill

In preparation for the session, an all-party meeting was held on Thursday, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. However, opposition parties have accused the government of using its majority to push through its agenda in parliamentary committees, raising concerns about the democratic process.

The Budget Session is a crucial event in India's parliamentary calendar, as it outlines the government's financial priorities and policies for the upcoming fiscal year. Key areas of focus are expected to include economic recovery, job creation, infrastructure development, and social welfare schemes.
