Boeing has laid off 150–180 employees from its Boeing India Engineering and Technology Center (BIETC) in Bengaluru as part of a global restructuring. The company aims to adjust its workforce in response to economic challenges while maintaining critical operations. Despite the layoffs, Boeing continues to consider India an important market and has assured that essential functions like customer service and safety remain unaffected.
Boeing management clarified that these layoffs are part of a realignment rather than just job cuts. While some positions have been removed, recruitment continues in areas essential to future business needs. Globally, Boeing is reducing its workforce by 10%, with India still accounting for a significant share of its overseas employees.
Although restructuring has raised concerns, Boeing remains optimistic about its future in India. The company’s leadership sees India as a key player in its long-term strategy, with plans to expand as production stabilizes.
