Union Home Minister Amit Shah released the BJP's manifesto during a visit to Jammu and Kashmir emphasizing that Article 370 which was revoked will not be reinstated. The manifesto focuses on development, security and economic growth in the region.
Shah highlighted the BJP's commitment to ensuring peace and progress in Jammu and Kashmir asserting that since its abolition has brought peace and justice. He criticized the Congress for allegedly supporting regional parties' separatist agendas. Shah's visit aimed to manage internal party dissatisfaction over ticket distribution for the upcoming elections.
He also claimed that under the Modi government the region has transformed from a terrorist hotspot to a tourist destination. Jammu and Kashmir's Assembly elections will occur in three phases with 90 constituencies including seats reserved for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
The BJP has announced 51 candidates and the Congress has allied with the National Conference for the elections.
