BJP Kerala Vice President Major Ravi criticized the Assam Chief Minister's beef ban, emphasizing that it sends a wrong message and risks creating communal tensions.

He said that the distinction between beef (buffalo and bull meat) and cow, highlighting that cows are worshipped but beef is not the same. Ravi argued that people should have the freedom to eat what they want and that sudden bans may harm societal harmony. He urged governments to avoid actions that could provoke divisions.

The Leader of Opposition in Kerala, VD Satheesan, also criticized the move, calling it part of the "Sangh Parivar's" agenda to divide people, especially with elections approaching in Assam.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma recently announced a ban on serving and consuming beef in public places, citing the Assam Cattle Preservation Act, 2021. The CM claimed the law effectively prevented cattle slaughter and aimed to promote public order through these measures.
