Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva was hospitalized after experiencing skin rashes and mild breathing issues following a dip in the polluted Yamuna River.
Sachdeva took the dip as a protest, accusing former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of failing to deliver on his promise to clean the river by 2025 and alleging that government funds meant for the project were misused. After initially consulting doctors Sachdeva was admitted to RML Hospital’s nursing unit for ongoing treatment due to persistent skin irritation and respiratory discomfort.
As the Purvanchali Chhath festival approaches, both BJP and AAP have intensified their criticisms over Yamuna’s pollution. BJP set up a protest stage at a Chhath Ghat inviting Kejriwal and Delhi’s Chief Minister Atishi to observe the river’s condition firsthand. Although Sachdeva waited before taking the dip, AAP dismissed his actions as "theatrics" and "misinformation."
