The Election Commission has registered an FIR against former BJP national general secretary CT Ravi for a social media post allegedly IGNITING religious animosity.
In the post, Ravi urged Hindus to unite against Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of waging war against Hinduism.
Following guidelines of the model code of conduct, action was initiated against Ravi by the poll body.
The Chikkamagalur District Election Officer filed the FIR at Chikkamagalur Town Police Station under sections 153A of the Indian Penal Code and 126 of the Representation of the People Act.
Ravi responded to the FIR, stating that his remarks were a Sanatani's response to Rahul Gandhi's comments.
He requested the Election Commission to provide details of any FIRs against Gandhi for statements offending followers of Sanatana Dharma.
