Average Working Hours in India: 7.5 hr; Highest in Delhi at 9.5 hr

A recent study has revealed that people in Delhi are spending the most time on their job activities, more than anywhere else in India. On average, employees in India work for 455 minutes, or 7.5 hours, per day. However, in Delhi, they spend 571 minutes, or 9.5 hours, on work each day, according to a recent report by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation. The report also includes the time spent traveling between home and the office.

In Uttar Pradesh, women work 72% fewer hours than men. In Bihar, this gap is 71.6%. In contrast, in Delhi and Kerala, the gap is only 22%, and in Goa, it is just 8%.

In rural areas, individuals aged 15-59 spend approximately 424 minutes per day on employment. In urban areas, the same age group spends around 494 minutes per day working.
