Are Women Not Safe In Jharkhand?

Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan criticized Jharkhand's law and order under the Hemant Soren government, accusing it of being inactive amid rising crime. Speaking at a rally he claimed over 7,400 rape cases were reported in the last five years making women feel unsafe. Chouhan compared the coalition government to the mythological figure Kumbhakarna, who only ate when awake, saying the JMM and Congress "eat" continuously, looting state resources and damaging Jharkhand’s future.

He further alleged that leaders from JMM and Congress exploited the public's hard-earned money and betrayed their trust. At another rally Chouhan warned about the growing influence of Bangladeshi infiltrators, noting their impact on Jharkhand’s tribal areas.

He claimed that the tribal population in Santhal Pargana fell from 44% to 28% due to land grabs by infiltrators, allegedly supported by the JMM-led government threatening Jharkhand’s "land, daughters, and livelihood."
