Another Monkeypox Case Reported in Kerala

The deadly Monkeypox virus, which has caused alarm globally, is now sparking concern in India. Recently, another case of Monkeypox was reported in Kerala, according to the state's health department. This brings the total number of cases in India to three.

Health officials have stated that a person from Ernakulam district was hospitalized after showing symptoms of Monkeypox. His samples were sent for testing, and the results confirmed a positive diagnosis. Currently, the patient is in stable condition. India's first case of Monkeypox was reported on September 9, when a young man's samples tested positive for the Clade-2 strain, commonly found in West Africa. Subsequently, on September 18, the Kerala health department confirmed another case involving a 38-year-old man who had recently returned from the UAE.

Globally, the World Health Organization has reported 99,518 cases of Monkeypox across 122 countries, making it a significant public health concern. The National Institute of Health has issued guidelines to prevent the spread of this disease. International media have also reported that several African nations, where the outbreak is widespread, have declared a health emergency.
