There are just a few hours left. The Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj is nearing its final phase. This once-in-144-years event will conclude tomorrow. If you miss it now, you'll have to wait another 144 years for the next one.
The Kumbh Mela takes place every four years, the Ardh Kumbh Mela every six years, and the Purna Kumbh Mela every twelve years. But the Maha Kumbh Mela happens only once in 144 years. This is the event happening right now. To be specific, the Maha Kumbh Mela comes after 12 Purna Kumbh Melas.
Some people may never witness the Maha Kumbh Mela in their lifetime. For example, those born next year would have to wait another 144 years to experience it. This is nearly impossible.
During Maha Shivaratri, grand celebrations will be held to mark the conclusion of the Maha Kumbh Mela. The Uttar Pradesh government has announced that by the 23rd, 620 million people have performed sacred baths at the Kumbh Mela. To put it in perspective, out of every five people in the country, on average, three participated in the Kumbh Mela. Although the event officially ends tomorrow, devotees may continue to visit for a few more days.
