Tamil Nadu BJP chief K. Annamalai defended the National Education Policy (NEP) against state government opposition, asserting it does not impose Hindi. He announced a signature campaign starting March 1 to support NEP, criticizing the DMK government for creating inequality among students by rejecting the three-language policy of English, Hindi, and Tamil.
Annamalai cited examples of Uttar Pradesh, Chandigarh, and Madhya Pradesh, where Tamil is offered as an optional language. He expressed disappointment with DMK leaders, claiming they lack knowledge of NEP, and highlighted Prime Minister Modi’s special session on NEP before its release.
Regarding his children, Annamalai preferred they learn a Dravidian language as a third option and Sanskrit or Hindi as a fourth. The DMK government continues to oppose NEP, viewing it as an attempt to impose Hindi on Tamil Nadu.
