In the aftermath of the Trump assassination attempt and his courageous response to it, everyone thought that his victory in the Presidential election was a sure thing, especially given the fact that his opponent was incumbent Joe Biden.
There’s no way that Americans can support Joe Biden who has repeatedly embarrassed himself and America on the world stage. Can this gentleman be trusted with the nuclear codes?
Trump on the other hand is jingoistic, aggressive and has a penchant for whipping up his followers into a violent frenzy. His choice of language, especially against women is highly debatable and the legal cases against him do not paint him in a positive light either. In other words, Trump does not bring dignity to the Office of the President.
But the scenario has changed remarkably. Under pressure, Joe Biden has stepped out of the Presidential race and Vice President Kamala Harris is now the Presidential nominee for the Democrats. This has sparked new enthusiasm in the Democrats with endorsements and campaign cheques flooding Kamala Harris.
More significantly though, in a national presidential poll conducted in the US by Reuters, the first since Biden stepped away, Harris has a 2 point lead over Trump, 44 percent to 42 percent.
There is a distinct possibility that Kamala Harris might end up becoming the first female President of the United States.
Referring to the assassination attempt on Trump, Indian politician Shashi Tharoor had remarked, “The bullet missed Trump but killed Biden.”
Well, the bullet might just have killed Trump also, politically.
