Vanchit Bahujan Aaghadi (VBA) leader Prakash Ambedkar was hospitalized for a heart condition, with doctors confirming a blood clot. He is stable and will undergo angiography while the family has requested privacy.
With Ambedkar under observation for several days VBA’s state president Rekha Tai Thakur will lead the party’s campaign in the Maharashtra assembly elections. A grandson of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Prakash Ambedkar has dedicated his career to Dalit rights and inclusive politics. VBA, which he founded, advocates for marginalized groups, including Dalits, OBCs and Muslims.
He previously served as a Member of Parliament and has been an outspoken critic of mainstream political parties for neglecting social justice. Recently he criticized demands for Maratha reservations within the OBC quota, calling it a risk to OBC representation and labeled NCP chief Sharad Pawar's proposal to raise Maharashtra’s reservation cap as "intellectual bankruptcy."
