Congress candidate Alka Lamba criticized former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal for allegedly misusing Rs33 crore of public funds to renovate his official residence during the pandemic.
Lamba pointed out extravagant expenditures on carpets, curtains, luxurious toilets, and a swimming pool, calling it a betrayal of Kejriwal’s earlier claims of rejecting privileges like a bungalow or car.
She questioned the government's priorities, emphasizing that the money could have been better used to address inflation or provide economic relief to women. The controversy, dubbed 'Sheesh Mahal,' highlights Kejriwal’s perceived misuse of taxpayers' money during a time when Delhiites faced financial struggles.
Lamba also referred to a Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) audit, which raised further concerns about the spending. As the Delhi Assembly elections near, she demanded that Kejriwal explain his actions, labeling the expenditure as a disregard for public welfare.
