The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) staged protests across various locations in Delhi on Wednesday, accusing the BJP government of failing to fulfill its election promises.
AAP workers took to the streets, holding empty gas cylinders and placards, demanding answers from the BJP regarding its pledge to provide free gas cylinders to women during Holi. They also criticized the government for not delivering on its promise of providing Rs 2,500 per month to women. Several AAP protestors were detained by the police.
Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Atishi, lashed out at the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that they had deceived the people of Delhi.
“The BJP and PM Modi made several promises to the people of Delhi, including Rs 2,500 financial aid for women and free LPG cylinders. Now, these promises have turned into mere election gimmicks. Holi is just two days away, and women in Delhi are still waiting for their free gas cylinders. Across the city, women are protesting against BJP’s false promises by holding empty gas cylinders,” she said.
