A recent analysis by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) has revealed that 96% of the newly elected Haryana MLAs are crorepatis. Out of the 90 elected members, 86 have declared assets worth more than Rs 1 crore. This marks a 3% increase from the previous elections. Additionally, 13 MLAs face criminal cases, with some involving serious charges.
Among the crorepati MLAs, 44% own assets exceeding Rs 10 crore, while only 2.2% have assets below Rs 20 lakh. The richest MLA, Savitri Jindal, an independent candidate from Hisar, leads with declared assets of Rs 270 crore. Following her are BJP's Shakti Rana Sharma with Rs 145 crore and Shruti Choudhary with Rs 134 crore.
In this election, the number of women MLAs increased by 10%, with 14% of the elected members being women. The BJP emerged as the largest party with 48 seats, while Congress won 11 seats. Independent candidates like Savitri Jindal also played a significant role.
Notably, the re-elected MLAs saw a 59% increase in their assets compared to 2019. On average, their wealth rose from Rs 9.08 crore to Rs 14.46 crore. Among the MLAs with criminal cases, independents topped the list, with six facing serious charges, including one charged with attempted murder.
