The Maha Kumbh Mela is renowned as the largest spiritual gathering in the world. Devotees from both within India and abroad are attending the event being held in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. By Tuesday evening, more than 55 crore devotees had participated in the holy dips at the Triveni Sangam of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers.
The Uttar Pradesh government has confirmed this figure, noting that the number of devotees continues to grow daily. Authorities estimate that the number could exceed 60 crore by February 26. They mentioned that they are making necessary arrangements as an unprecedented number of devotees are arriving.
This event is the largest spiritual pilgrimage and cultural-social event in human history. Over 55 crore devotees have already taken part in the holy dips. By February 14, more than 50 crore devotees had participated. The latest update confirms that the number has reached 55 crore. On January 29, during the Mauni Amavasya day, nearly 8 crore people, and on Makar Sankranti, 3.5 crore people, took holy dips. On January 30, over 2 crore devotees participated in the holy baths, as reported by the Uttar Pradesh government.
The UP government is ensuring strict security measures to avoid any disturbances during the event. In this regard, the government is using advanced technology, including AI-integrated drones, CCTV cameras, and information centers to manage security arrangements. Special exhibitions featuring mythological tales, designed to entertain everyone from children to adults, have become a major attraction at the Maha Kumbh Mela.
