Priyanka Gandhi, a new Lok Sabha member, sparked debate with her choice of tote bags. On Monday, she carried a bag reading "Palestine," attracting BJP criticism. The next day, she used a bag addressing minority issues in Bangladesh.
BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi later gifted her a bag featuring the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, with blood imagery, referencing Congress' alleged role in the violence following Indira Gandhi's assassination. Thousands of Sikhs were killed in the riots, for which Congress is often blamed. Priyanka accepted the bag with a smile, despite its contentious symbolism.
Meanwhile, Priyanka defended her brother Rahul Gandhi against an FIR filed by BJP, alleging he injured BJP MPs during a protest. She dismissed the FIR as baseless, accusing the government of avoiding discussion on the Adani issue. She said Rahul is incapable of such actions and emphasized public frustration with BJP’s tactics.
