The Uttar Pradesh government is gearing up for the grand Maha Kumbh Mela, set to begin on January 13, 2025, at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers in Prayagraj. Extensive arrangements are being made to ensure the comfort and safety of the millions of pilgrims expected to attend.

Key highlights of the preparations include:

  • 1.6 Lakh Tents: Temporary accommodation for pilgrims.
  • 1.5 Lakh Toilets: Sanitation facilities with the support of 15,000 sanitation workers.
  • Infrastructure Expansion:
    • A 1,250-kilometer pipeline is being laid.
    • Installation of 67,000 LED lights and 2,000 solar-powered lights for illumination.
    • Plantation of 3 lakh saplings to enhance greenery and eco-friendliness.
  • Advanced Technology:
    • AI-based cameras for surveillance.
    • RFID wristbands and app-based tracking systems to monitor crowd movement and count pilgrims.

The Maha Kumbh Mela, one of the largest religious gatherings globally, will span 45 days, attracting millions of devotees seeking spiritual blessings at the holy confluence.
