Delhi: Kejriwal's Routine Political Promises

AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal pledged to waive inflated water bills if his party wins the upcoming Delhi assembly elections. He criticized the BJP for issuing exorbitant bills and urged consumers not to pay them until AAP forms the government.

Delhi residents currently receive 20,000 liters of free water monthly, benefiting 1.2 million families. Kejriwal blamed billing issues on disrupted meter readings during the Covid-19 pandemic and bureaucratic hurdles preventing a settlement scheme announced earlier this year.

Kejriwal, recently released on bail after six months in jail over excise policy allegations, promised to reveal details of the bill waiver scheme post-elections. He also announced welfare initiatives, including higher allowances for women, free healthcare for the elderly, and monthly support for Hindu and Sikh priests.

The Delhi elections are expected in February, as the assembly's term ends on February 23. The BJP has yet to respond to Kejriwal’s claims.
