Rahul Gandhi Contesting From Khammam?

Hyderabad: Rahul Gandhi is likely to contest from the Khammam seat. Initially, the Congress considered nominating Sonia Gandhi for this seat. A resolution was passed by the Telangana PCC urging Sonia to contest for the Lok Sabha from Telangana.

Renuka Chaudhary's announcement that she would relinquish the Khammam seat if Sonia contests proved advantageous for her.

Congress revised its strategy at the eleventh hour. National President Mallikarjuna Kharge proposed sending Sonia to the Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan to appease Congress leaders amidst a heated dispute over contesting from Rajasthan.

Since Sonia opted not to contest from Khammam, Renuka Chaudhary, the former representative of that seat, was considered for the Rajya Sabha. In the Rajya Sabha, Renuka has the opportunity to be Sonia's ally and confront her opponents.

Moreover, the prospects of garnering support from the settlers for the Congress improved due to Renuka. Renuka must also diligently work to secure Rahul Gandhi's victory in the Khammam Lok Sabha.

Consequently, the circumstances turned favorable for Renuka. Renuka, who previously led the Telugu Desam Parliamentary Party, not only had the fortune of representing her constituency twice in the Rajya Sabha and once in the Lok Sabha but also served as a Union Minister.

Thus, why did 77-year-old Sonia Gandhi aspire to enter the Rajya Sabha? Is it imperative for her to join the Rajya Sabha? Any capable Congress leader could have been accommodated in that position...
