Modi Led BJP To Break These Congress Records?

Modi Led BJP To Break These Congress Records?

It was way back in 1984, just after the demise of Indira Gandhi, that Rajiv Gandhi led Congress swept the national polls, scoring 404 MP seats along with its allies.

The 1984 elections were a landslide victory for the party, which won 404 of the 514 seats elected in 1984 and a further 10 in the delayed elections.

Now, Narendra Modi-led BJP is aiming to beat this number and set a new record. That means it has to bag the maximum number of seats for BJP and should also bring many other parties into its NDA to cross the mark of 414.

There are indeed several other records beyond that which BJP leadership wants to achieve.

Another one is that Modi is going to surpass Manmohan Singh, who is the third longest-serving Indian Prime Minister, in a span of three months from now.

Then, in the coming term, he would automatically surpass Indira Gandhi's record of 11 years and 59 days, thus becoming the second longest-serving PM of independent India.

There is also a goal to win another election in 2029 and thereby surpass Jawaharlal Nehru's record of 16 years and 286 days, thus setting a historic precedent where the longest-serving Indian PM is not from Congress but BJP.

We have to see how far these aspirations of saffron brigade would be fulfilled.
