ECI Deletes Bogus Votes: Will Madhavi Latha Defeat Owaisi?

ECI Deletes Bogus Votes: Will Madhavi Latha Defeat Owaisi?

Kompella Madhavi Latha, the BJP contestant for the MP seat in the Hyderabad Lok Ssabha Constituency, has been vocal about her victory, anticipating a majority of 1.5 lakh.

Many understand this as an impossible factor, considering the sizable Muslim population in Hyderabad LS Constituency.

Asaduddin Owaisi has consistently won elections here, with his majority growing each year, expected to reach 2 lakh even in 2024.

Madhavi Latha's confidence stems from the alleged presence of 6 lakh bogus votes in the constituency.

While she claims complaints were filed with the EC to address this issue, the political circles didn't take it seriously.

However, in a surprising turn, the ECI removed a total of 5.41 lakh votes in the GHMC area, which includes Hyderabad LS Constituency.

Insider hints suggest that the majority of these deleted votes are from Hyderabad LS Constituency.

In preparation for the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, the election branch of GHMC has taken significant steps to ensure fair elections, including revisions to the electoral rolls.

This includes removing 47,141 deceased voters, 4,39,801 relocated voters, and 54,259 duplicate voters, totaling 541,201 voters, in accordance with ECI instructions.

Additionally, 1,81,405 voters with non-standard house numbers were identified and corrected in Hyderabad, along with 3,78,713 corrections to consolidate split voters into one polling station.

The identification and removal of ineligible voters and the purification of electoral rolls have been completed.

The impact of these actions by the ECI on Madhavi Latha's prospects remains to be seen.

Though the number of votes deleted are not in tune with what Madhavi Latha claimed, the move by ECI may potentially help her to a large extent.
