Fahadh Faasil, a prominent figure in Malayalam cinema, known for his recent success with "Aavesham," has outlined the distinction between Malayalam cinema and the broader Indian film industry.
The actor, celebrated for his performances in "Kumbalangi Nights," "Maheshinte Prathikaaram," "Malik," "Joji," and others, pointed out the relative lack of substantial support from OTT platforms for Malayalam cinema.
During a discussion with a YouTube channel, Fahadh remarked, "While the industry has seen growth, Malayalam cinema still lacks robust backing from online streaming platforms. We must prove ourselves in theaters before such platforms take notice. Unlike other parts of India, where films are often sold before production even begins, our approach is different."
He continued, "Our model requires us to complete and release a film to showcase its potential before it gains attention on OTT platforms. This approach has influenced our industry's cinematic culture, underscoring the importance of crafting compelling narratives and delivering high-quality content."
