Most actors from Malayalam cinema who stepped into Telugu films have made a decent impact — from Mohanlal to Prithviraj Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, and Fahadh Faasil. They’ve all carved a space for themselves.
But one notable name missing from that list is Shine Tom Chacko.
He’s a powerhouse performer, easily on par with the stars mentioned above. In Kerala, he enjoys a solid fan base. However, when it comes to Telugu or Tamil films, Shine seems to be underutilized, often landing roles that don’t match his caliber.
He impressed with roles in Dasara and Rangabali, but after that, he disappeared from full-fledged characters. It’s not that he took a break — he’s been doing smaller roles here and there, but they seem to be diminishing his value rather than showcasing his talent.
In Dacoit Maharaja, his role was minimal. In Robinhood, it was even more forgettable.
Before fans could wonder what was going on, he popped up in Good Bad Ugly — but again, just for a single scene. He gave a performance and exited, almost like a blink-and-miss appearance.
At this point, it might be wise for Shine Tom Chacko to reconsider accepting such minor roles in Telugu and Tamil films. A talent like his deserves better — and audiences certainly expect more from him.
