Top South Indian actress Nayanthara recently opened up about her career journey and the challenges faced by women in the film industry. Known for her dominance in Tamil and Telugu cinema, she has earned the title of one of the highest-paid actresses in South India. Despite her success, Nayanthara revealed in a magazine interview that entering the film industry was never part of her plan.
Nayanthara recalled how Malayalam director Sathyan Anthikad discovered her. He saw her photo in a weekly magazine and offered her a role opposite actor Jayaram. She was initially surprised and hesitant but shared the news with her parents, who fully supported her decision.
Reflecting on her journey, she pointed out the double standards in society, questioning why restrictions are placed on women pursuing acting, while men often face no such limitations. "Acting is also a career," she said, emphasizing that many have gained respect and success in the industry. Fortunately, her parents were supportive, allowing her to follow her passion, which led to her debut in a Malayalam film and eventually working with big stars in the South Indian film industry.
Nayanthara’s thoughts highlight the unfair expectations placed on women and the importance of parental support in pursuing unconventional careers.
