West Asia War: Modi's Top Security Meeting

Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened an urgent Cabinet Committee on Security meeting to discuss the escalating crisis in West Asia, particularly after Iran's missile attack on Israel. The committee, comprising key ministers and the National Security Adviser focused on the impact of the conflict on trade, navigation and supply chains especially oil supplies.

India expressed deep concern over the developments and urged diplomatic resolution to prevent a wider regional conflict. The ongoing crisis threatens to disrupt global trade routes like the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden potentially increasing cargo tariffs due to heightened tensions.

India's exports through the Suez Canal crucial for 50% of its trade are already affected with petroleum exports dropping significantly. India’s trade with Gulf nations, which contributes 15% of its total trade is also at risk. The government emphasized the need for urgent dialogue to avoid further escalation.
