During a promotional tour for his upcoming film Thangalaan actor Vikram responded calmly to suggestions that he lacks the stardom of contemporaries Suriya or Ajith Kumar.
At a press conference in Madurai when asked about his fan base Vikram confidently stated that the reporter was uninformed, inviting him to see the audience's reaction in theaters. He dismissed the importance of being a "top hero" emphasizing that audience appreciation matters more.
Vikram noted that his focus is on delivering quality films like Dhool and Saamy and that everyone is his fan in some way. The exchange sparked strong reactions online with fans defending Vikram highlighting his past successes and dedication to his craft.
Thangalaan directed by Pa Ranjith features Vikram as a tribal leader in the Kolar Gold Fields alongside Malavika Mohanan, Parvathy Thiruvothu and Daniel Caltagirone.
