Vijay Varma is on a successful path in his career, with his latest project, IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, receiving positive reviews. In a recent interview with Variety he revealed his ambition to break into Hollywood seeking the right opportunity to do so.
He believes it’s an ideal time to make this transition and has begun discussions about finding international representation. Varma is particularly interested in the trend of “colour-blind casting,” which allows Indian actors like Ishaan Khatter and Ali Fazal to land roles not limited by ethnicity.
He feels that the growing acceptance of Indian actors in global cinema presents exciting opportunities. While he plans to explore these avenues next year Varma is currently focused on selecting challenging roles that resonate with audiences. This year he appeared in several projects, including Mirzapur and Murder Mubarak and recently completed filming Ul Jalool Ishq, co-starring Naseeruddin Shah.
