Renowned actor and dubbing artist Delhi Ganesh passed away on Saturday night at 11:30 p.m. in Chennai after battling health issues for the past few days. With an impressive career spanning over 400 films across Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi, Ganesh was last seen in Kamal Haasan's *Indian 2*.
Delhi Ganesh, originally named Ganesan, was born on August 1, 1944, in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. His film career began in 1976 with a role in *Pattina Pravesam*, directed by K. Balachander. In 1981, he played a lead role in *Engamma Maharani*.
Before entering cinema, he served in the Indian Air Force from 1964 to 1974. Pursuing his passion for acting, he left his job to join the film industry and started as a member of the South Indian Drama Association (DBNS) theater group. It was K. Balachander who introduced him as "Delhi Ganesh" in films, a name he carried throughout his career.
Ganesh received the Tamil Nadu State Award in 1979 and the prestigious Kalaimamani Award in 1994 from then-Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa.
