Indian television stars Divyanka Tripathi and Vivek Dahiya were robbed of their passports, wallets and other belongings totaling around Rs.10 lakh during a trip to Europe.
The theft occurred in Florence while they were celebrating their eighth wedding anniversary.
Dahiya told Times of India that they discovered the break-in after returning to their car from viewing a property, finding all their valuables gone.
Efforts to get help from local police were futile as they were told that the lack of CCTV cameras in the area made it impossible to assist.
The couple also tried contacting the embassy but it was closed. Stranded without cash or identification Tripathi and Dahiya are seeking urgent help from the Indian embassy.
They are currently in a small town near Florence with hotel staff offering some support.
They urgently need temporary passports and substantial assistance from the embassy to return to India as they are without any resources.
Divyanka tweeted with an appeal to support mentioning that none responded from Indian embassy located in Rome so far despite calling several times.
