Pan-India actress Rashmika Mandanna has once again sparked anger in Karnataka. This time, a Congress MLA, Ravi, publicly criticized her for skipping the Bengaluru International Film Festival.
During a press conference, the MLA openly lashed out, stating that it’s time to teach Rashmika a lesson, which created a stir. According to reports, Rashmika was invited multiple times to attend the festival but showed no interest, leading to the MLA’s frustration.
This controversy follows another recent incident where Rashmika, during an interview with Bollywood media, claimed she was from Hyderabad, which angered the Kannada film industry (Sandalwood). Many fans accused her of ignoring the Kannada industry that gave her a break, leading to massive trolling on social media.
Rashmika has been no stranger to such controversies. When Kantara became a pan-India blockbuster, she faced backlash for saying she didn’t have time to watch the film. Earlier, she also made a statement claiming that romantic songs are more common in Bollywood than in South films, which stirred another debate.
Now, the latest film festival issue has reignited criticism against her. Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, D.K. Shivakumar, indirectly warned Kannada actors, stating that the film industry needs to be disciplined, further fueling the debate.
