Director Venkat Prabhu, who faced severe criticism for his movie *The GOAT*, lost much of the popularity he had built up over the years with that one film. Apart from Tamil Nadu, *The GOAT* failed to perform in any other state.
Leaving aside how the movie was made, it was Venkat Prabhu's statements after the release that further damaged his image. At one point, he claimed that the reason audiences in other states didn’t like *The GOAT* was because of the focus on Chennai Super Kings. In another instance, he made a controversial statement saying he doesn’t make movies for critics.
These remarks led to him being trolled for nearly 3-4 days. Just when things seemed to have settled down, Venkat Prabhu found himself the target of trolling again, this time for purchasing a luxury car.
Recently, he bought a car worth Rs 80 lakhs, which angered many people. Trolls lashed out at him, saying, "You gave us headaches with your bad movie, and now you go buy a car?" Some pointed out that the film only did well in Kollywood because Vijay was the lead actor, claiming it would have been a disaster worldwide otherwise.
