Controversial filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) has been dealt a significant blow as a six-year-old cheque bounce case culminated in a shocking verdict. The Andheri Magistrate Court in Mumbai has sentenced him to three months of imprisonment after finding him guilty in the case.
In 2018, a complaint was filed against Ram Gopal Varma by Mahesh Chandra Mishra, representing a company named Shri. Mishra alleged that a cheque issued by Varma had bounced. Despite ongoing court proceedings, Varma reportedly failed to appear even once for hearings, prompting the court to issue a non-bailable warrant against him.
The Andheri Magistrate Court ruled against Varma, sentencing him to three months of simple imprisonment. Additionally, the court has ordered Varma to pay Rs 3.72 lakh as compensation to the complainant within three months. Failure to comply with this order will result in Varma serving the full jail term.
