Arshad Warsi recently expressed his dislike for Kalki 2898 AD particularly criticizing Prabhas's portrayal saying he looked like a "joker" instead of a powerful character like Mad Max.
Despite praising Amitabh Bachchan's performance, Warsi's comments sparked a strong reaction from director Ajay Bhupathi, the Telugu director who is famous with his film RX 100, defended Prabhas on social media. Ajay Bhupathi accused Warsi of being jealous due to his fading career and emphasized Prabhas's contribution to Indian cinema's global reach.
Warsi reiterated his disappointment, questioning the decisions behind Prabhas's portrayal. Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD features an ensemble cast including Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan among others.
The dystopian sci fi film inspired by the Hindu epic Mahabharata became the fourth highest grossing film in India and the top Indian film of 2024.
