Twinkle Khanna once an actress and now known as Akshay Kumar's wife recently addressed the issue of women in India facing daily fears in her column "Why ghosts don’t scare the Indian Stree."
She shared a childhood story about her great aunt being possessed by an evil spirit and discussed how real life horrors such as violent crimes against women are often more frightening than what is depicted in horror films.
Twinkle Khanna highlighted the need for stronger enforcement of laws to ensure women's safety in public spaces. She emphasized that until then encountering a ghost might seem safer than facing real world dangers.
In her writing she contrasts traditional scary stories with the new horror film "Stree 2" which flips the narrative portraying women as free while men are threatened by a supernatural entity. Khanna has authored several books including "Mrs Funnybones" and "Welcome to Paradise."
