Singer Sonu Nigam recently expressed his concerns over the absence of Padma awards for prominent singers like Kishore Kumar, Alka Yagnik, Shreya Ghoshal, and Sunidhi Chauhan. In a video posted on Instagram, Sonu highlighted how Kishore Kumar, despite being an iconic figure, did not receive even a Padma Shri award, while Mohammed Rafi was honored with one.
He also pointed out that Alka Yagnik, with her remarkable career, and Shreya Ghoshal and Sunidhi Chauhan, both of whom have inspired generations, have yet to receive any recognition. Sonu urged his fans to recognize those who deserve Padma awards in various fields, including music, acting, science, and literature. His remarks came after he himself received the Padma Shri in 2022.
Sonu has sung over 10,000 songs in multiple Indian languages, establishing himself as a celebrated voice in the music industry.
