Sonu Nigam, one of India's most renowned playback singers, has captivated audiences with his melodious voice across various languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. Despite his immense popularity, he has often found himself in controversies. Recently, he faced criticism for expressing his opinion on Arijit Singh receiving the Padma Shri award.
Now, Sonu Nigam has once again made headlines, but this time for a shocking incident. During his performance at Engifest 2025 at Delhi Technological University, a group of students attacked him by throwing stones and bottles at the stage. The incident left Sonu Nigam visibly upset. Addressing the audience, he expressed his disappointment, stating that he had come there to spend a good time with them and expected them to behave respectfully. Reports suggest that some of his team members were injured during the attack.
As the live show was in progress, some individuals in the crowd started pelting stones and plastic bottles at the stage, forcing the event to be halted midway. With an audience of over 100,000 people, managing the situation became extremely difficult.
This isn’t the first time Sonu Nigam has faced such a situation. Back in February this year, a similar incident occurred during his performance in Kolkata, where some members of the audience disrupted the event, creating chaos. At that time, Sonu had to intervene to control the crowd, urging them to settle down and maintain order. Videos of that incident had also gone viral on social media.
