Veteran actor Mukesh Khanna, famous for his roles in "Shaktiman" and "Mahabharat," has criticized Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgn for endorsing pan masala products and gambling apps.
In an interview Khanna expressed his frustration with these actors for promoting harmful products through deceptive surrogate advertisements. He questioned why such wealthy stars would engage in these endorsements which he believes negatively influence the public particularly the youth.
Khanna emphasized the misleading nature of these ads comparing them to beer ads disguised as harmless promotions. He also mentioned that some actors like Akshay Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan have withdrawn from such promotions. Khanna firmly stated that he has never accepted offers to endorse harmful products urging fellow actors to consider their influence on the public.
He appealed to them not to promote products like pan masala as their endorsement could lead people to imitate their actions perpetuating harmful habits.
