Khushbu Sundar, an actor-turned-politician and BJP leader spoke out about the sexual assault allegations in the Malayalam film industry following the Justice Hema Committee Report.
In a post on social media platform X, she praised the women who are speaking up against harassment. She noted that sexual harassment and pressure to compromise for career advancement are issues in every field and questioned why women should bear this burden alone.
Khushbu also shared that she had a deep conversation with her daughters who are 24 and 21 and was moved by their empathy and support for the victims. She emphasized the importance of speaking out whether immediately or later as it aids in healing and effective investigation. She highlighted the fear of shame, victim blaming and intrusive questions that can deter victims from coming forward.
Khushbu urged people to consider the victim's circumstances and provide support and understanding recognizing that not everyone has the privilege to speak out easily.
