Saudi Arabia has reached a notable achievement by making its debut in this year's Miss Universe pageant which is scheduled to be held in Mexico on September 18.
In an Instagram announcement the 27 year old Rumy Alqahtani disclosed her role as the Kingdom’s inaugural contestant in the global beauty competition.
"I am privileged to be part of the Miss Universe 2024 contest. This marks Saudi Arabia's maiden participation in the Miss Universe pageant," wrote the model and content creator, who hails from Riyadh, in her post on Monday.
Alqahtani’s involvement follows the path of Bahrain’s Lujane Yacoub who represented her nation in the Miss Universe pageant last year thereby becoming the first woman from the Gulf region to achieve this milestone.
