Sameer Wankhede, former NCB zonal director, who led the 2021 arrest of Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan, recently addressed the controversy in an interview.
He declined to comment on allegations regarding leaked chats, citing the ongoing High Court case. When asked about a dialogue in Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan referencing a father-son scenario, Wankhede dismissed it as “cheap” and “third-rate,” stating such words are not part of Indian culture. He refused to engage with “road-side dialogues” or respond at that level.
In 2023, the CBI registered a corruption case against Wankhede and others, alleging extortion of Rs 25 crore and receiving Rs 50 lakh in bribes related to Aryan's arrest. Wankhede called the charges a vendetta. Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan was last seen in Dunki, and Aryan Khan is set to debut as a director next year with a Netflix series about Bollywood's complexities.
