The Maharashtra government has increased security for Bollywood star Salman Khan upgrading it to Y+ status nearly two years after he first received this level of protection.
This decision comes in response to threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and follows the murder of his close friend, NCP leader Baba Siddique. Under Y+ security Salman is assigned four armed personnel and a police escort vehicle, along with a trained constable for additional protection.
Salman has faced multiple threats from Bishnoi's gang in recent years, prompting him to obtain a gun license after receiving threats against himself and his father Salim Khan. Following Siddique’s murder security around Salman's home in Bandra has been heightened. In April 2024 a shooting outside his apartment was claimed by the Bishnoi gang. Salman is currently hosting the 18th season of the reality show Bigg Boss.
