In the case of Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan's stabbing, the Mumbai police have refuted a media claim that the fingerprints of the accused, Shariful Islam, did not match those found at the actor's residence. Satyanarayan Chaudhary, Joint Commissioner of Police, confirmed the report was false.
Media reports had raised concerns about whether the correct person was arrested after suggesting the fingerprints of Shariful, arrested on January 19, did not match those from the scene. Dixit Gedam, Deputy Commissioner of Police, clarified that the fingerprint report is still pending.
The police had collected 20 fingerprints from the actor's residence following the January 16 incident. Investigations are ongoing, with the police waiting for further forensic reports, including blood matches.
Additionally, a police team has traveled to Kolkata to investigate how the accused obtained a SIM card and weapon, while a facial recognition test is still awaited. The accused remains in custody.
