A new film titled Retro is on the way — starring Suriya and Pooja Hegde, directed by Karthik Subbaraj. And as expected from a Karthik Subbaraj film, it already looks offbeat. Scheduled to release on May 1st, Retro has piqued interest, especially since Suriya is expected to appear in a very different role and potentially bounce back in a big way.
Now, the trailer has dropped — and it’s... not your typical trailer.
It doesn’t feel like a regular preview of a movie. Instead, it plays out more like a mash-up video — chopped up clips of various characters, expressions, moods, and scenes, all stitched together like a jigsaw puzzle. There’s no clear narrative. No hint of the actual plot. Just a chaotic, crazy tease of what’s to come.
Suriya’s look is impressive, while Pooja’s role seems fairly average. There are several other characters, but the trailer gives away nothing about how they connect, what twists the story holds, or even what genre it firmly belongs to.
It’s not your typical story-driven or format-based trailer. It’s just wild, unpredictable, and slightly confusing — which makes us wonder: if the trailer is this mad, how crazy is the film going to be?
