Senior actress and director Renuka Shahane recently revealed that she started menstruating at just 10 years old which significantly impacted her childhood.
She shared how early menstruation affected her development and self view saying she felt deprived of a normal childhood experience and struggled to relate to peers.
Renuka mentioned that this early onset made her feel that her body was something to hide, which influenced her conservative views on body image and dress throughout her life.
She reflected that these childhood experiences shape many aspects of adult life, including self-perception and behavior.
Renuka is active on social media often sharing her insights on various topics.
On the work front Renuka was last seen in the 2022 film 'Govinda Naam Mera' featuring Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and Kiara Advani.
She also appeared as a judge on the Marathi game show 'Band Baja Varat'. She has not yet announced her next projects.
Generally, the actresses open up on sensitive and too personal issues in public when their new film releases are scheduled.
But Renuka seems to have nothing of that sort in line but simply shared this as a point of topic in a talk show.
